Cat Grooming Directory ("we," "us," or "our") operates catgroomingdirectory.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep this simple and honest.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Site and provide what you ask for:

• Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter, sign up for updates, or join a mailing list. We also store the date and source of your sign-up so we can confirm your consent.
• Information you send us — anything you include when you contact us, submit a form, or ask us to add, correct, or remove a business listing (for example, your name, email, business name, and message).
• Account and authentication information — if you sign in as a business owner to claim or manage a listing, we use Google sign-in (OAuth) and store your name and email from that account.
• Business listing information — for groomers and grooming businesses listed in the directory, we collect publicly available business details such as business name, address, phone number, hours, photos, and services. If you are a sole proprietor, some of this may relate to you personally.
• Payment information — if you subscribe to a paid product (Purrfect Mail, Groomer Edge, Featured Listing, Sponsored Ad, or Premium Sponsor), payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number; Stripe stores it on its own systems and returns a token to us.
• Usage and device information — when you visit the Site, we may automatically collect standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring page, through cookies and analytics tools.

We do not ask for or store sensitive personal information, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Why we collect it

We use the information above to:

• Send you the newsletters or updates you signed up for
• Respond to your questions, form submissions, and listing requests
• Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its directory listings
• Process payments and manage subscriptions to our paid products
• Understand how the Site is used so we can make it better (analytics)
• Track affiliate referrals when you click certain product links (see "Affiliate links" below)
• Meet our legal and regulatory obligations

We rely on your consent for marketing emails, and on our legitimate interest in operating a useful directory for the rest. You can withdraw consent at any time (see "Your choices and rights").

Cookies and analytics

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to make the Site work, remember your preferences, and measure traffic. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work as well if you do.

We do not require an account to browse the Site.

Affiliate links

Some links on the Site — including in our shop, blog posts, and product guides — are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking an affiliate link may pass standard referral information to the retailer (for example, Amazon) so the referral can be credited. We disclose this on the pages where affiliate links appear.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only with the service providers we use to run the Site, and only as needed for them to provide their service:

• Hosting and infrastructure (Vercel) — to serve the Site
• Database (Neon Postgres) — to store listings, sign-up information, and subscriptions
• Image storage (Vercel Blob) — to store groomer profile photos
• Email delivery (Resend) — to send the emails you've subscribed to and transactional confirmations
• Payment processing (Stripe) — to handle subscriptions and store your payment method
• Authentication (Google OAuth) — to let business owners sign in to claim or manage a listing
• Analytics (Google Analytics) — to measure Site usage
• Business listing photos (Google Places API) — if a groomer claiming a listing chooses to import photos from their Google Business Profile
• Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates) — to credit referrals

These providers may process and store data outside your home province, state, or country, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to work with providers that protect your information. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above:

• Newsletter/email sign-ups — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information
• Contact and listing requests — for as long as needed to handle the request and keep reasonable records
• Listing information — for as long as the business is listed; removed on a valid request
• Subscription records — for as long as the subscription is active and for a reasonable period after cancellation for tax and accounting purposes
• Usage/analytics data — for a limited period in line with our analytics tools' standard retention

When we no longer need information, we delete it or de-identify it.

How we protect it

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take security seriously and limit access to information to what's necessary.

Your choices and rights

You have the right to:

• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email we send
• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date
• Delete your personal information, or ask us to stop using it
• Withdraw consent to marketing at any time

If you are a listed groomer or business, you can ask us to claim, correct, or remove your listing at any time. You can also manage paid subscriptions yourself through our subscription management page.

To make any of these requests, email privacy@catgroomingdirectory.com or write to the mailing address above. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Canada (PIPEDA): If you are in Canada and have a concern we haven't resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Commercial emails

We send marketing and update emails only to people who have opted in. Every commercial email includes our identity, a valid mailing address, and a working unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we will stop sending marketing emails promptly.

Children

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be reflected on this page. Please check back occasionally.
